i think i goofed up, had it working and now i can't.

how do i correctly connect a dual wan router to a linksys wireless router?

Netgear FVS124G x 4 Lan and 2 x WAN (config page 192.168.1.1)
Linksys Wireless WRT54GL x 4 Lan and 1 x Wan (config page 192.168.1.3)

I had it all working and now i can't that will teach me.

I had disabled DCHP on the Netgear and had it enabled on the Linksys so my devices got there ip address.

Now I've meddled i can't get the Netgear to give my Linksys Internet Access again.

from what is the correct port from and too...

Wish I'd just left it all alone now......lol

Not sure exactly what u want to achieve, but I would presume the WAN port from the linksys would go to a standard port on netgear, however if u just wanted it for the extra ports (as a switch) just go LAN on netgear to LAN on linksys

DHCP from netgear

Switch off dhcp on Wireless

Give wireless IP address within scope of netgear and make sure its outwith the dhcp scope.

BTW that netgear aint much cop.

The throughput is awful! I had one with 2 x 20mb and It was woefull!

Make sure the wireless has its gateway and dns set as the netgear

if i switch of DHCP on wireless then i won't be able to connect any wireless devices though?

Yeah the wireless will still work, it will just be giving IP from the other router

ah ok, i think it's late, i will have a go tomorrow chaps, and report back.

Thanks

ok so seem's all working and that now great, just a teething issue,

On the Linksys i would have normaly port forwarded to allow torrents through using the ip address of the machine that has utorrent on it.

So the hard wired PC's do i do it on the NETGEAR now and same with the WIRELESS one do i still do it on the NETGEAR and totally forget about the LINKSYS and port forwarding etc i think it is?

2 x PC's connected to NETGEAR (ethernet)
1 x Laptotp Connected NETGEAR (ethernet)
1 x Wireless Laptop Connected to (linksys)

Linksys (192.168.1.3 - config page) connected to NETGEAR via ethernet (192.168.1.1 - config page)

or would it be better connecting everything to the linksys and using portforwading on there and adding 192.168.1.3 to the exemptions page of the netgear....?

Thanks

oh and one other thing that is doing my head in now....

When i try and use MSN the whole network goes down, yeah crazy as it seems, trying to use msn on any machine simply brings the network to a halt and all machines loose there connectivity to the internet...

ok i'm sorted on mapping a port and allowing torrents from the main pc which is the main thing for now, i think i'll add the linksys 192.168.1.3 and allow full access from/to the netgear 192.168.1.1

might make a new thread on the msn thing
