I Just replaced my older Belkin with new N1 Belkin
I use all the old network cables that where they before and my Belkin N1 working ok.

I want to put my Old Belkin router in My sons house, his PC gone bang, so got him a cheap laptop with wifi in it, he has it VM router the network cable that went to his old PC, I have a yellow patch lead that came with the new
N1 Routor

so first question is:
do I need any more network cables to set this laptop up

My older router was on a secured network, (wpa is it) so if I press the reset button will this remove the secured settings.

Will I need to connect this old router to the laptop by a network cable while first installing it, or can you do it wireless

Thanks for all Help & advice

Since his laptop is wireless all you will need to connect the modem to the router with one Ethernet cable.

Advisable tho to connect the laptop wired to the router to gain access of the routers security features by typing in 192.161.1.1 varies depending on router into internet explorer and turn wireless security on and set a wpa2 with a non dictionary password. and wireless mac filtering also if you want.

sticky here

once you have did this just search for wirless network from the laptop and connect, you will be prompted for the password and this will save so you dont have to re-enter.
once you have did this, go back into the router and turn off the SSID broadcast for added security.

if you want to keep the originals settings just search for network and enter the password already setup

can confirm its 192.68.2.1 after pressing and holding the reset button then follow the steps above once reset then it leave the password blank on the log in screen then you can sort all your settings out m8 :)

Thanks for all your help sorted
I plugged the old router back In at home got wpa number and
then loaded that onto the laptop before I took it to there house.
All I had to do was connect to router to the modem plug it in and worked a treat.

Thanks again Gents...
