wep key cracker

is there a kind of software that can do this and find a wep key 2 a network

I think there is but it's my understanding it take quiet a while to actually crack it.

wep? wont take long atall - I think the record is a few seconds now.

However, I think it is also illegal to own the software to do it now?

any 1 going to pm the link for the software or name of the software

Just in case you didnt know, breaking into someones wlan is illegal.

Yep you are right it is now illegal to own this software, unless you have a dam good reason to be using it.

But wouldn't a warrant also be needed to go through your laptop legally?

I think im right in saying that if the police think u are committing a criminal act i.e. actually connected to someone then thay can search without a warrent.

Don't think a warrant would be too hard to obtain if required

Hey guy's anit we straying from the subject here ? 99% of stuff on here could get you into trouble but it's only for educational purposes As I'm sure is the case here

you can search for airopeek, airsnort, airfart, backtrack, net stumbler and there are lots of tutorials etc on the net for using these tools along side eachother to sniff/ examine packets of data on a network to get the wep key.. although without a heavy amount of traffic on that network, you may be sitting in your car for quite some time waiting for packets to transfer.. so bring a flask

What might help is "backtrack 3 beta" put that into google and look for remote-exploit.org. That cd ISO distro has all the tools you will need, you just need to learn how to use linux

backtrack is often used for penetration testing of networks - very useful and powerfull tool

it normally runs off a live cd.

I only say get back to the subject coz I'm taking note for educational purposes myself lol

in addition to the list i posted yesterday, i also came accross this today.. program called "commview" might be worth checking out.. a lad i work with says he successfully "educated himself" last night with this program with a couple of thousand packets

interesting post i think a bit of self education is needed but is there a way of finding out whos is doing this 2 u as my wireless light is flashing most evenings when i have no pcs on ?? so my router should be dormant ??

there is a program that involves vmware (virtual machine) and another program that runs on it ( I wont name unless I'm allowed to in pm) it runs on windows, and you don't have to type all those long, confusing commands... real easy to use and gets you the victims wep password in around 30 seconds. again highly illegal.

@Wilster: I'm not sure, but I don't see why you can't post the name. Afterall, there's loads of other posts naming programs, and even howtos on this forum. If I'm wrong, could a mod please explain why.
