wireless to laptop

i have ntl broadband and that is used by my pc, what i want to do is connect my laptop up wirelessly, can i plug a usb wirless adapter in my pc and connect from my laptop or is it more complicated than that?

you'l need a wireless router mate and depending on your laptop either a usb or internal mini-pci wireless card depending on your laptop spec

There are usually 4 ports on a wireless router. That means you can connect 4 PCs/Laptops to the router via ethernet cable, just like your PC connects to your modem.

And you can have as many wireless devices connected as you want (ip address allowing).

whilst i agree with other posters their solution is a lot neater and u can surf independently of the other machine being on, and also allows for future expansion.
you could do it as you propose though, you would need to setup ics (internet connection sharing) on the host machine to allow the lappy Internet and the host machine would always need to be on.
how cost effective it would be is debatable a routers adsl and cable seem to be cheaper every week, not sure of the cost of wireless network cards.
