I dont want to replace the router upstairs as my printer is off it

thanks nyck

You can connect the two togather but assuming your wired router is set to issue ip address than you will need to disable DHCP on the wireless router otherwise the IP addresses will conflict.

I would have thought that would be fine, just need to turn off DHCP on the wireless router and let the wired router give DHCP or vice versa.

In general yes, you should be able to do this. It might depend on your wireless router. What type is it? Basically you could turn off the DHCP server on the wireless router, and set the gateway for the wireless router to the i.p. of the wired router. It will really depend on what router(s) you've got, and may require flashing an alternative firmware to the wireless.

edit: My slow reply again!!! :(

Not sure, but you might need a cross-over cable to connect them.

A crossover cable is not required to connect 2 routers, although my linksys routers don't seem to care whether I use crossover or straight through cables.
