Basically MAc Filtering is/was a first line of defence.

See, we think we use internal IP addresses to route on a small network, this isn't actualy happening. Small netqworks use "ARP" in conjunction with TCP/IP to route, so.... What happens is (Everyone does it differently) if you implement MAC filtering you are telling the router not to route to a MAC. Routers hold MAC addresses and assign IP addresses to a MAC, you see an IP address, the router see's a MAC address. Turn OFf MAc Address filtering. There is little need for it and infact I have seen so many occasions when implementing Mac filtering AND WEP/WPA clash. There really is little need to use MAC filtering. I rarely use it and i set networks up for a living.

If you are interested look up ARP tables and ARP broadcasts on Google.
