hi all, i currently have a belkin router F5D7230v4_UK_6.00.21, but every now and then i lose connection and have to uplug the router from the mains and re-power it again to get it working, its not just the wireless that goes off its also the hardwired ports too, no matter what config or improvements i do it still drops the network. so i,ve come to you good people to ask/poll your suggestions on what you think is the best and most reliable on the market today..........much appreciated jon.

I have got a Netgear wireless router, and i had the same question when i brought my router on which 1 i should buy so i had asked about 5 ppl and all of them recommended to me to buy netgear, and if i to go to friends/familes houses then there is generally NETGEAR at home.

i personally have had nooo problems with my router ATALL since i brought it
Set up is easy and there is no trouble

I heard alot about belkin breaking down alot so i had really looked at it

hi hnj, thanks for your comments, have you seen them netgear wgr614 that telewest were giving away? i was given 1 brand new off a realitive and for the love of god i cant get it working properly, have read some where there is a fault with this perticular model from telewest as it does not get on with ie7, but i,ve tried it with out ie7 and still cant get it working properly, like my belkin it drops the singal every 10 mins tried all the suggestions but still couldnt get it working so put my belkin back in its place. now got a semi working network lol. cheers jon

Hi JON the NETGEAR that i have is WPN824 (RANGEMAX) which had came with a free usb adapter (WPN111), check this one out if you want i think it is a bit more expensive because of the speed its i would say (personal opinon) it is quite worth it as i am fine with mine but have a look if you like and hopefully your router will be working FINE!!!

AND DONT FORGET SECURITY USE ALL OF IT LOL YOU WILL NEED IT

just a quick update for any1 who has had same/similar problems to mine with a belkin router: when i first got it i registered it with belkin this will now be the forth router in 3 years i,ve had off them, telephoned them a couple of days a go with it having a life time guarantee explained the situation to them and they sent me a email today saying not to bother sending old router back they were sending out a brand new replacement should arrive in 2 to 4 days. so if u buy a belkin product make sure you register it with them to qualify for the life time guarantee cant fault there backup support. jon

just to let every1 know who has a F5D7230v4_UK the same one i had and still got as a new replacement but with version 7000 instead of the version 4000, it came today and seem to have upgraded its features and power supply demand, it now runs off a 9v 1000ma plug the old power supply was 4.5v 1.5a. and has added new web based features added like range extender which i am a little unsure about as its not mentioned in the manual, it appears people like me who were getting disconnected/network dropping they appear to have done some power boosting on a fairly big scale, so if you have this model of router with version 4000 on it and you suffer from network disconnections maybe a phone call to belkin is in order. my nephew has the same router make & model and very same problem drops the network and he has to unplug the power supply for a few seconds then plugs it back in again and all is well till it drops again, seems there might be a problem with this model of router. a replacement is also on its way for him. jon

Linksys are the best routers you can buy and the prices have come down a lot recently. The're tech support is fantastic and the routers are very simple to set up. With telewest, you dont need to do anything except plug it in! For adsl you follow the simple wizard where it asks you your username and password and connection type.

the reason you see so many netgears around is because pc world and dell are sending them out everywhere! They are ok, but he linksys is the best! they are part of cisco which is the world leaders on this stuff.

just out of intrest the linksys would have been my next choice, looked into all the different wireless router choices and that came back as the one especially the pre n one. jon
