Flashing to V3 and V4

hey

i finally got my hands on a pc with a console port, so im going to go flashing a few lonrisun boxes later so i can put newer images on them.

my problem is i can find the V3 and V3.1 updates but not the v4 using the search function.

anyone have the V4 update or could post the link please.

also is there anthing else i should know before i install the updates?

V4 caused some boxes tuners issues that were irreversible.

I can not find it either so it may have been removed at some point.

oh i remember that now. thats why i didnt try harder to get my hands on a pc with console

i wont be able to install the latest images so i suppose.

I agree with Ferret, for a lot of people updating from v2 to v4 caused tuner issue for which meant box was effectively useless but not technically bricked.

If you really want to take the chance on upgrading to v4 then this is at your own risk. See here.

ill upgrade it to v3.1 anyway.

I went to flash the box this morning but after i run the update.exe, i plug in the box and it boots like normal but nothing comes up on the commandline. the box just boots normally

i have tired the console cable each way 2->reciever/1->PC and 1->reciever/2->PC.
i also tired it on a server running win2008, buit got the same result.
i have tired a usb console cable i had from an attempt a few years ago but dont have the drivers for it.

below are the cables.

anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?

Im not sure mate but the cable may not be a serial cable i forget all this was so long ago.

The guide does state use the cable that came with the box. Saying that did you do the previous upgrade with those cables ?

If so check your com port settings usb cable are known for failing with this.

i think that was the cable as i only ever had 2 solo2 lonrisun clones and gave the other box with all the cables to a client.

the last time i did it i was using the USB console but it would fail when trying to update but at least something was coming up on the commandline. this time windows says i need drivers, I tried with the VM i used it with before and that said i need drivers too which was strange as the VM should of had it the driver from before. I assumed it was failing as i was using a VM or a USB cable. I cant even get that far this time using WINXP/WIN2K8 and a console cable.

I'll have a rumble around later and see if i can find another cable.

By any chance does anyone have a driver for that USB cable? i downloaded and installed a few from google after searching for "USB console cable driver" but no luck.
