I have had the genuine solo2 for about 3years or so!
anyway all it does now is show the blue power light and a light on the Ethernet port and nothing else.
It has done this all of a sudden with no warning at all, intentionally I left it unplugged and left it whilst I took delivery on my duo2-Which by the way is just fantastic --thanks to @Ferret for his input on my selection.
When I plugged the solo2 in again a few days later it worked and started to work normally for about 10 minute and then it would not turn over channels and it stopped responding to the remote so I powered down and we are back to the blue light on the power again and nothing else.
I have a feeling that there is a hardware fault. Any thoughts if it might be recoverable?
There is nothing when I try to ftp into the box either.

Does this have a external PSU ? Have you checked that ?

Does sound like a component is breaking down with heat take a look at the caps on the board and look for swollen ones. That is about all you can do.

Thanks Ferret, yes it has an external psu and i checked it 12.3v
I did look at the caps and no obvious signs of any blown>
I buggered the hdmi port a few months back so I am thinking it is something to do with that.
Just thought it was worth asking before I put it back into its box and throw it in the loft!

Try delsoderign the hdmi and see if it works
Maybe a short on it if you have messed it up

for caps

Also get some compressed air and use as freeze spray turn can upside down
and spray caps to see if works..
this will rule out any suspect caps...
