Vu+ Solo 2 Picture Quality

Has anyone else got issues with the picture quality on sd channels?

I have read up in few other forums that it has something to do with the chip they use in this box.

What would be your recommendation for an alternate box?

There no worse than a 800se or Zgemma boxes for example.

I have a sunray solo2 and I use mostly SD channels and haven't noticed any quality issues.

Some TV's have a better quality as well like my Samsung is good quality but I know some other TV's don't have as good a pic quality.

This also depends on the bandwidth and the amount of compression being used on each channel..,,

I am running a 55" Sony Bravia LED 3D TV which seems to output a decent quality on the sky box.

Bandwidth could possibly be one of the factors as the compression seems to be the same on FTA channels.

Is the drop in quality a recent thing?

It has always been the same, just now I plan to do something about it.

Make sure your channel lists are Upto date,check all your connections,check signal strength,full scan for channels

All been done with no success yet!

Is overscan turned on? I had to turn it off on my Samsung tv as the Vix menus were off the screen but it could also affect picture quality possibly

I have notice an improvement in my picture moving from vix image 25 to image 37

Overscan is turned off and I have the latest image installed too.

ok a bit of an update from me since putting vix 4.02 on the picture gets bright and very grainy now even if I go back to an older vix the picture is still grainy something going on here

on the genuine box picture is still as sharp as ever on vix4.02
