Hey

a mate recently moved house. i went out the other day to connect his box to his internet.
He has land line vodafone internet with 50mb down ,10mb up and i got less than 50ms latency every time i done a speed test which is a massive improvement over his previous internet.

im connecting to the internet using a wifi dongle in the box that he used in his previous place with little or no trouble for over a year.

the problem is when i went out to connect the box to the internet i was able to connect it to the router but no channels were opening except the fta channels.
when i tried to connect to the box using my idreamx on my computer i couldn't. and i cant find it when i do a search on the network. i couldnt access it either on my web browser.
when i access the router it shows the box connected. i forgot to see if i could ping it as i was highly frustrated thinking this was going to be a 5 min job but 2 hours later no luck.
i tired rebooting everything but with no luck.

his box is a vu solo2 lonrisun clone running vix helios.

i cant seem to figure out the problem. could it be vodafone blocking cs and the box?
I will try connecting using powerlines the next day but the box is only 20 feet from the router and my laptop has full wifi signal in the same place so im not to optimistic about that working.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

be very surprised indeed if it was cs related lol

how would they know what you were doing got to be another network issue

Had he given the box a static IP with his other internet provider if he had the details could be totally different.

Set box up to DHCP and try connect, if it still wont work are you able to download plugins ? If so its nothing to do with your internet connect as the box gets out.

Next make sure the emu it actually running if it is login to the emus webinterface and check the status of the connection if your offline chances are the fault is at their end.

If you can't connect via LAN with iDreamX it's obviously a internal network issue not WAN hence why the box can't connect to the Internet.

I checked that already and it was set to receive from the dhcp. I was hoping that was the problem but I should of known this dude can't even send a text message. He hardly setup a static IP.

Its definitely not the server end I checked his line on my box. Its has to be an internal network issue. I hope the power lines will sort the problem the next day I'm out there.

Could this maybe related to the routor blocking ports.

Open the the port the emu is using to be sure.

Is he able to say download a plugin with the box ?

Sorry i forgot to mention its an old version of vix(Helios) so no access to plugins.
I tired to open the port the other day and I couldn't find the option in the router. I will do a bit more research into it if the power lines don't work.

the power lines sorted the issue. must of been some issue regarding the wifi.

thanks for the help
