Whats the best image...

Hi there,

Just woundering what is the best imagefor a VU+ Solo2 {Clone} I am running Open VIX apollo 160 at themoment and don't want to re-invent the wheel here... If VIX apollo160 is one of the lateist then I will just leave it on.

Also is the VU+ Solo2 and the Sunraythe same units and will take same images?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Vix support a lot of boxes and due to this releases can be buggy because of the workload on what is a small dev team, on top of that you constantly need to flash the latest to avoid feeds going offline etc i just dont believe the hype. Just my opinion.

Try OpenATV it just works. 4.2 is rock solid and so is 5.0 these days.

I've always been an open Pli or Vix man personally. For my vu boxes I've always used vix and the old adage of it isn't broke why try and fix it works for me. Use, I think 165 on my clone solo2 at the moment and only upgraded a few months ago after running 3.0 808 for ages.

Hi there,

Thanks for the advice, I have just got a second hand Solo2 so I will have a play around with it.

IAmATeaf, did you ever get the remote control that came with Solo2 to work a TV volume?

Cheers,

PLi all the way for me
I have tried them all since I've had the Solo2 Sunray
PLi just works simple as :)

OpenATV is nice but a a lot of faffing around for button remote setup For sunray at least as the remote is pretty much the same layout as a dreambox remote (that I really like personally)

Blackhole was ok something I could get used too if I stuck with it

ViX as said is a lot of bugs with so many releases and code changes etc etc

so for me PLi all the way, easy simple layout, stable and just works

Hi Rat,

As mine is a VU+ Solo2 and not a SunRay could I use this image [h=2][DOWNLOAD] DW Backup PLi 4.0 Sky Look 6/6/15[/h]If so is their an idiots guide to reflash the unit

Cheers,

BTY Any ideas how I can get the Sky Movies back on a Blade BM 5000S?

What Clone is it mate if not a Sunray ?

I'll be honest I dont know much about the other Solo2 clones as Im new to Solo2 myself

I have read some sunray images work on certain clones but I couldent advise what one would need to search that
but there is always a risk

Hi there,
I am still trying to get my head around which box I have... the box I have is like below, is this the as Sunray just a different name?

Thanks

Those are the specs of a solo2 clone

The website you mentioned is run for Lonrison clones.

Pure guess but you have a Lonrison Solo2 SE type clone (or some variation of that).

I noticed you have apollo 160 this means your clone can either accept sunray safe images or it is likely it's already flashed with v4 flash update.

You could try a recent sunray clone safe image as I've not heard of anyone bricking their box as normally what happens is they get a black screen during booting and that's it (ie refuses to fully boot).

Failing that then try a recent openvix hades 12 for v4 flashed lonrison clones.

Make a backup first of your current image and as always with any flashing of other images there is a risk of bricking your box. Thankfully the risk is less now than what it was but it's still a risk nonetheless.

Hi mate,
Flash it with Apollo 165, its the most stable, for me anyway.
I've flashed it with the latest backups from Kemtp, to the latest Hades 12.
Good luck.

Suttsy.

If it has a port on the rear called a service port its sunray. If it hasnt then well its not.

Hi all,

Thanks for all the good advice, Ferret mine does not have a service port so it's not a sunray...

Cheers,

Hi all,

Need to pick some ones brains here... I thinking of buying a VU+ Solo2 Clone that his been updated and now will only boot to open splash screen. I have only updated one box with a bad firmware Spider Optibox, I downloaded the correct firmware connected via cable to R232 port and re flashed the unit and I was back up and running.

My question is if someone has updated a VU+ Solo2 Clone and it won't boot can it be re flash or is it just a door stopper?

Thanks,

If it gets to the splash screen its not bricked, 9 times out of 10 the problem is the image is too new for the box and you need to update the box say for Lornison boxes to V4 for the newer images to work or use an older image.
