Hi all

I used to run version 748 on my VU+ Solo2. I used that version for about 3 years.

When I was recording a programme and wanted to watch a different channel it would grey out the channels that I couldn't watch (I think they were on a different transponder).

I'm now using Apollo 166 - Kernel 3.13.5 and when I'm recording a programme and want to watch a different channel there is no indication which channels I can watch.

Can anyone advise me on why this is now happening and also is there anything I can do to change this.

Are you not running an interdependent sat feed in to each tuner ?

I'm sorry, I have no idea what you mean. I only have one dish and it is a twin LNB. As far as I'm aware I am only using one tuner.

There are two tuners on the receiver. Do they both have wires from the satellite dish?

or you can put one cable in tuner 2 (B)
tuners setup:
tuner 1 (A) - loop through to tuner 2 (B)
tuner 2 (B) - your satellite setup

and you can watch two chanels on the same polarisation and on the same satellite

That still restricts what channels are available though, best method is a cable fron lnb to both tuners.

I'm sorry. It's my fault for not explaining myself very well.

I can watch more than one channel (as long as it's on the same polorisation BUT the problem is, I don't know which I can watch. When I record a programme, I used to be able to click on the down button and get the channel list and the greyed out channels were the channels I couldn't watch.

Now, using Apollo 166, once I'm recording a channel, the other channels that I cannot watch are NOT greyed out.

Does anyone have any ideas how to work out which channels I can watch and which I can't.

They are greyed out on mine and I'm on Apollo too. What happens when u go to one of the channels that aren't greyed out?

Show us a pic of ur tuner config.

Menu>setup>service searching> tuner configuration.

Do you have two completely separate independent sat feeds from your dish/LNB to your solo2?

i dont think he does. id say adrian the OP has the same problem as he has both tuners setup when he has only one connected to the lnb.
to fix your problem just dont configure the tuner thats not connected to the lnb.
But in my option you should just run a cable from the lnb to the box. all u need is 2 f connectors and coaxial cable all in 20euro and about an hours work. get from an electrical wholesalers. dont get from a place like maplin cuz they will rob u blind.
if u only have a single lnb then u will have to buy an dual or quad lnb they are only about 20 euro too but i doubt thats the case as sky usually install quad lnb with there sats

If anyone only has one sat feed from dish/LNB to their solo2, then I believe the recommendation is to connect this feed to tuner B and ensure you loopthrough tuner B to A (not A to B).

and ensure you loopthrough tuner B to A (not A to B).

"Loop through to: mode to make the LNB1 (tuner A) be internally connected to the LNB2 (tuner B) in"

vu+ solo2 Easy Setup Guide, page 23

Thanks so I was right :)

Sorry for not getting back to you, I have been away all week and only just got back.
I have a dual lnb with 2 x separate cables.
I will try changing the loop over
Thanks for the replies

If you have a dual lnb with 2x separate cables then no need to change any loopover as both tuners should be set to Simple, single, 28.2E
