Hello all.

Firstly, apologies if this is posted in the wrong section. I purchased a clone VU+ Solo2 earlier this year and so far I have been very happy with it. I have a couple of questions that I would appreciate some feedback on, as I have very limited knowledge of this reciever.

1. TSmedia. I have somehow deleted this from the box whilst trying to update it. No idea how, but it has totally dissapeared from the menu and also the plugins list. I have attempted to reinstall numerous versions over the last few days, but I'm not having any success. Could someone either point me in the right direction, or suggest alternate ways to get it back. I was thinking that installing a new image may give me access to TSmedia, but I'm only guessing at this option?

2. If installing a new image is the answer, which image would be OK with a cloned box? I've been reading on here about different versions of the box, but I have no idea which one I have!

What I have in terms of information is the following:

VUSOLO+2 - It has the dreamoem sticker on top of the box.

softcam cccam 2.3.0

blackhole- this is what it says when the box boots up.

vix helios
build 016
kernel 3.3.8
drivers 2014-04-24
last update 2014-05-04

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

Best way to install tsmedia is with a combination of FTP and telnet

Transfer the tsmedia ipk to the tmp folder at the root of your image.

Now start a telnet session in DCC or Puttytel and login

Copy and paste this command into the telnet window and hit enter

opkg update && opkg install -force-overwrite /tmp/*.ipk

If your unsure on any of this then let us know and we can go into more detail.

Dreamoem would mean you have a Sunray clone so only install sunray images youll find them all in the download section.

Thanks Ferret for the quick reply and info re Sunray.
I've tried what you said already. That is the part where i'm getting stuck! It looks like something is trying to connect to a dead link...but like I said, it's all new to me, and at the moment very frustrating.
Here's the info I get back from telnet:

the other thing i have noticed is that the location of the tmp fplder is actually: /var/volatile/tmp. There is a tmp file in the root folder, but it's just a shortcut to the file located in the volatile folder. Is this normal?

Thanks again for any help you can provide.

Yeah your on a old image with the feeds disabled by VIX they need to be fixed before the telnet install will work.

See here

That link is for Lonrison.

See my post here which is Vix Apollo 090 and is near enough the latest. The feeds are working in this version. This Vix works fine on Sunray Solo2 it looks you have. If it's a v2 sunray solo2 clone, it will have mini usb "service" type port on back as well.

Please note that updating to the latest image from your old Vix image requires a full fresh flash with no restore of settings due to a kernel change which happened in apollo 25. This means having to set any autotimers and other personal settings.

We are talking about just reactivating the feeds the link is relevant with the correct files to do that.

Thanks to both of you for your input. I will do some reading up over the next couple of days and then give it a go on Wednesday when I have some free time.
cheers.

Personally, if you're happy with image you have been using and just wish to get TSmedia working again then I would do a complete backup of current image (just to be on safe side) and replace the feed files so you can then use plugins again and then install tsmedia from the feeds and leave it at that. This is especially true if you have settings you would want to keep and autotimers, etc as settings can't be kept if using current vix from your old version (you can, however, copy your autotimers over if you back the file up first).

If you're not too concerned about doing a fresh flash and about settings/autotimers then use Vix 090 (most revent version at time of writing from downloads section).

.

Did this earlier. Feeds are now working and TSMEDIA is now up and running. I don't think i will update VIX at the moment, as everything is working fine.
Thanks again for the help.
