hello I have tried to update my vu solo2+ clone with the file from here USB_FPGA_UPDATE.i have tried formatting my pen using other pens.but everytime I try to use the files on my box .I get no device cant found device file.shows up on my box when highlighting the file and selecting ok,it tells me its about to run the file then get the cant found device on screen,any idea people,thank you in advanve people
Are you using the firmware upgrade plugin.?
Hi have u tried putting the usb stick in one of the rear slots. I tried the front slot and had the same problem. I then tried it on a rear slot where I had already mounted a usb stick and I was able to get to the fpga upgrade file and carry out the upgrade.
Have u tried the ftp method that IamAteaf described in the big solo 2 thread. Have copied his post below.
I copied the FPGA file to /tmp on the box itself then followed the instructions by going into Plugins and then selecting Firmware Upgrade, then navigating to /tmp and selecting the FPGA file, at the message stating that the upgrade can't be cancelled just accept to go ahead. For me once the FPGA upgrade completed it rebooted the box and the box then stuck on Starting...
I then had to switch the box off, plugged in the RS232 cable, the cable is labelled 1 and 2, I plugged 1 into the laptop and 2 into the box. The cable is a null modem cable so in theory it shouldn't matter but that's what I did. I then opened a CMD prompt as Administrator, navigated to the folder where the update is and then ran update.exe. I then switched the box on the almost immediately the update ran and completed. I then again switched the box off and restarted and waited for it to boot up.
Once booted and running I then copied over the latest dvb driver files and restarted the box, normally I'd get HW Error but with the updates the box booted up normally.

Hi m8 do the first part using Dreambox Control Centre (DCC) or VUCC ie FTP the upgrade file from ur pc to tmp folder on ur box and then go thro the upgrade process described above to find the file and start the upgrade.
Then follow the HW upgrade instructions making sure u connect the cable that came with the box as per the instructions. If u have a HDD connected to ur box or any other usb sticks I would remove them before carrying out the upgrade process as my HDD got corrupted and caused the box to be very slow start up ie 6 mins. There are 2 things u can try now. 1) do a factory reset then an online image update or 2) load a original BH 209 image onto a usb stick and plug it into a mounted usb slot and carryout the normal image load process. ie power off , usb in, power on, press power button on front display when it says upgrade available and with a bit of luck u should be running an original image. Re ur concerns about screwing up the box then I cannot say as I am relatively new to VU boxes but would say there is plenty of support here to get u back up and running if u have problems.

If ur bx was ver 2 then u should not get a HW error when u load an original image so think it must b a ver 1 box. Cannot think why u r getting this problem. Not being cheeky but when u do the upgrade you r clicking on the .dat file and the .md5 file is on the same usb beside it ? Have u reset ur box back to the image that came with it and tried it again.?.
Hi have you tried doing the hardware upgrade first then the FPGA.
It states in the instructions to do the hardware upgrade first then the fpga upgrade but i did it the other way around i did fpga first then hardware and box was sorted.Try experimenting.Also copy whole folder (USB_FPGA_UPDATE) not just the 2 files to usb.. and try flashing vix 808 clone safe image by AJT first then do the upgrades.

ive flashe vix 808 clone like u said bud.fpga update has now started to work counting upto a 100.hardware upgrade has also worked now for a try of original image.anyone who is having problems do as exactly stated in the last post by AJT.thankyou again

I am getting my vu box delivered soon what is the best image to use ..i think the box will come with the blackhole image..i have heard of open pli and open vix if i try any of these how to i backup it case i want to go back to an image i prefer..
Image is all about personal preference to be honest. No idea about BH but Vix has a backup image menu option so just back it up put the backup unto a USB pen drive and you should be able to restore within minutes. By the way I tried replying to you but your pm box was full.

Blackhole also has full and personal backup option as standard. OpenPLI has no option for backing up as standard but you can download backupsuite from the PLI plugin menu to do the job. Another image to look at is OpenATV cracking image and that also has built in backup options.
Id not take any notice of the hype behind any image try them all and you decide on what suits you .

My cam mgcamd has just randomly stopped processing, doesn't crash but keep on running but channels won't clear until I restart it. Anybody else had this? Not changed anything on the box at all and it's been doing it now for the last few days.
