I am giving this receiver some serious thought and have a couple of questions?
1. i think i read somewhere that it is not possible to record two different channels at the same time, is this encrypted channels, or one fta and encrypted, can you view encrypted and record one encrypted? at the same time please can someone clear this up for me.
2. trans coding in simple terms what does this mean?

Thanks camshaft

I cannot comment on any other image as i personally use Blackhole 2.0.1A which the last time i checked was bale to record 2 encrypted channels at the same time, When i tried it worked anyway as i say i cannot comment on any other image regarding this.

Same apply's to the Transcoding featureit works fine on my Setup with Blackhole 2.0.1A, to put it simply you port forward a port number in your router set the Solo2 to Transcode enabled and you can access this via the official Vu+ Player app or a 3rd party one like dreamdroid on any compatible device like ipad, iphone, android etc... without having to use VLC to encode the stream for you

I can add that you are able to record 2 encrypted channels at the same time. Works fine on Open PLi 3
It is possible to record 3 or more but they would have to be on the same transponder as one of the channels being recorded so not a lot of options available for more than 2 recordings

Hi, I'd like to put things into perspective and this question might help some newbies (like me) on this forum, who wish to purchase the VU+ Solo 2.

(1) Does the VU+ Solo 2 record like a sly box? i.e. series link?
(2) Can I record progs in the future (similar to series link, but not a series)?
(3) Viewing another channel whilst recording 2 others? (i think you touched on this above)

Thanks

1. This was the case when the receiver was first released but was fixed long ago with updated hardware drivers.
2. Transcoding is simply where the receiver re-encodes live TV on the fly to a lower bitrate, allowing you to stream this over the internet. For the solo2 However this is handled by software as opposed to the soon to be released Duo 2 which is hardware based. s

1. yes
2. yes
3. yes providing that the third channel is transmitting on the same transponder as either of two that are recording, if you want to record from three different transponders you would need a receiver with three tuner cards such as the Venton HD 3 or the soon to be discontinued Vu+ Ultimo.
