I have a VU Solo 2 se box, I'm pretty sure its a clone, although I don't know how to tell.

Anyway, a few weeks ago it started playing up, coming up with a tune failed message, after a while I narrowed it down to overheating due to the fan failing. I bought a new fan and fitted it, still no dice, it wouldn't turn.
So I wired that fan up to a USB connector and powered it via the rear USB port now it turns, but now my box is totally unresponsive, with the fan either plugged in or unplugged.

When I turn it on, it appears with the "VU+ Your smart TV player" screen, and then freezes, nothing happens. I have left it for about 30 minutes and it just sits at that screen. The remote is unresponsive. I can see its IP address via the Fing app, so its still connected to the wireless, and I can see the directory via an FTP connection.

Is this box done for? or there anything I can do to get it working again? Its just over a year old, so I'm hoping its not broken beyond repair.

Thanks in advance for any help

Could you point me to the correct image, I've looked through the downloads and I'm not sure which one to try.

Thanks

Make a full image backup of your current image first before doing anything.

Some Solo2 SE images can take a Sunray safe Solo2 image but some can't. Try a Sunray Solo 2 image and worst case is it will not fully boot-up and then you can go back to image you were on.

I can't make a backup image, my box freezes before it gets started, so I guess I'm just going to have to go for it. If it breaks I'll need to get another one

That could be a faulty power supply. Re flash as directed with a sunray solo2 image and see what that does if anything to cure this.

Thanks, I'll flash the box tonight,m and its still a no go, then I'll try the power supply.

Do you think this image will be OK for my box? [h=1] OpenVix 3.2 021 $ky Looking Setup (Sunray Solo 2)[/h]
I have no idea what I'm doing, I'm currently reading through the guides on flashing, to make sure I'm fully prepared before I have a go at it.

I would not flash a "sunray" image on a solo2 SE box you may cause yourself more issues use a image for your box a solo2 se image..
Where did you purchase box? Ask them for a link to clone safe images for your box.

Sunray images are known to work on the SE reported on here and else where all the time.

The worst case scenario based on how old the box is, is the box wont boot past the splash screen.

This is rectified by then flashing a image made for the se by the cloner manufacture. The box will not be bricked by doing this and if your lucky you can then use sunray images and enjoy the better support.

I have no idea who made the box, and I bought it third party so the original seller isn't available for support.

I guess I'll just have to have a go, if it doesn't work, then I'm no worse off than I am at the moment, if it does then I'm golden.

just be aware what ever image you try ensure it is a CLONE safe image..
sunray images are safe as the drivers are modded and safe...but do not use any genuine/regular images as it will kill your box..

Thanks, I'll try the sunray ones in the downloads section, Now that I have subscribed. Hopefully all will go well.

I tyried 2 different sunray images and it was a no go. I found a sitcker on the bottom of my box with a website VU+ and X Website --- Home, so I managed to get the original image, but it still doesn't work. It gets to the openvix screen with the sun shining through onto a pool of water, then it just stops, the remote isn't responding.

So I wonder of its the power supply, question is, where would I get a replacement?

Speak to your supplier of the box for the psu or search ebay. Last resort take psu to maplins and get them to match the voltage and ampage output and also the polarity you may even have one for something else that matches .
