Hey guys

So my box was giving me a red light, no boot.
I tried a reflash but it wasn't accepting any memory sticks.
It finally booted with a green light when I plugged my phone in (strange, I know)

I took that opportunity to reflash the BH image, it worked for half a day then back to the above problem.

mobile phone trick worked again after which I flashed vix image. Same again, worked for half a day but this time I can't get it off the red light no matter what I do.

It did randomly boot up once. I used that opportunity to reflash the bootloader, however back to red light again and not budging.

What do I do? :S

Regards

Cheers for the reply.

Where can I get a new power supply from? Will a psu from a solo clone work or from a bricked vu solo?
I've opened up the cover. My novice eyes can't see anything out of the ordinary off the surface but then what do I know...
You want pictures?

The solo uses a internal psu but you shoul be able to swap the clone one over to this one. Just see if the connection to the motherboad is identical.

Cheers for the advice

I knew someone who had a bricked clone but hes binned it now. So much for harvesting the PSU out of that.
I guess mine can go in the bin too unless someone has one that they're willing to donate. I'd be very grateful for that.

Thanks nonetheless for all the help

Is it worth trying the capacitor replacement or do you think the problem stems deeper than that?

See if any are domed first mate. If you can take some decent hi-res pics it would help

The last one appears to be domed, think I've twisted my neck, lol.
Replace that one crazyfool and see how you go. Voltage and capacitance required is marked on the component. These are polarized so make sure you put it back the same way.

You sexy bastad
Replaced both capacitors and it works like a dream.
Thanks for saving my box

I have two solos, one stuck on red light, and one completely dead, no power. These ferrari boxes are no longer in production and cannot get parts...

I thought the red light issue was software related, if i put boot loader cfe2 in, it flashes and blinks green, i then flash my image and goes ok but when i load up its stuck on red.

Can both these boxes be fixed by replacing the domed capacitor...
