VU+ Solo vu solo mini stuck on blue light

A friend has asked me to take a look at his vu solo mini which isnt responding. It just has the blue light permantly on on the front display.

I'm not converse with this box and I'm thinking its a clone. It has a bar sticker on the botton and the sn. Is it likely to be a sw or hw problem ?

Just needs reflashing use Ferrari solo images.

I've tried flashing with images off the stickers website VU-HD.com (sticker on the topf of box) but its not having any.

Can I flash via rs232 ?

Only if you can find a nfi version of a clone image. Not sure that exists .

As i said try Ferrari solo images.

Just use a Ferrari solo v3 image if that does not boot use a v2 one will boot.

These image will not brick the solo mini.

Well ive tried all the different flash's and nothings happening... I am defeated

Does it flash them but not boot ? Can you see the usb activity light flashing ?

No , nothing, no light on my USB which lights red on the PC. I hope I'm doing it right
I put the vuplus on a fat32 stick , in the front, turn it on , press the power button 5-10 seconds then wait. With this model there's no display saying flash - boot nothing, just the blue light so I just gave it 15 minutes but nothing.

I've tried numerous flashes + I tried to connect it to my lappy with the rs232 and hyperterminal but it doesn't connect.

It is not seeing the usb stick so try others formatted to fat32 with the hp format tool.

All the clones ive come across that have usb flashing can reject flashing from USB on one stick that works fine on another box. Even my duo2 wont use a LaCie drive i have that works on all my other boxes so it really is worth playing around.

Thanks , got a few USB's old and new will try them all now. Also that blackhole img ?, is that for a vusolo2 ? is there any difference img wise between a solo and a solo2 as this is a solo2?. It's not half confusing all these versions of the vusolo This box also has a small round sticker on the back nr the psu input says V2.0

The Blackhole image is for the solo and specifically the mini solo.

If you dont manage to flash it with that and other usb sticks its looking bad but try this if you have no luck flashing.

With the solo mini connected to your router via ethernet cable power on and leave it for 5.

Then with DCC try the find option. If it finds the solo we can save it as the drivers are stopping a full boot.

If not then it look like someone has flash it with an original image that has wiped the nand or updated the image online and that wiped the nand. Only way to recover would be jtag.

bit of er numpty question how do I know which is the boxes ip in DCC ?

ignore the numpty remark, I think its showing as 192.168.0.24 theres .01 modem .03 pc and the only other thing connexcted now is the vusolo2

Try login to it to see If you get the usual prompt the boot loader is ok.

I unplugged the other 2 things in the router so I only had my PC hard wired and the vusolo2 hard wired.
I searched with DCC and it's picked up 192.168.0.1 which is my router and 192.168.0.24 . When I disconnect the vusolo2 and scan again with DCC it still picks up friggin 192.168.0.24 !!! wtf is that ?? there's only my PC plugged in and thats 192.168.0.6

I unplugged the vusolo network cable and pinged 24 and got a reply , im lost lol

if 01 is my router and 06 is my PC and I've only 2 things hard wired then what is 24 ?

Lol , right sussed , , ,24's me fookin phone , , 1's the router , 6 is the PC..

I connected up the vusolo network , , left it for a few mins and tried DDC and it's not picking it up even though the green activation lights up on the router. So I take it it's fookered for good ?
