Anyone got the Chinese VU Solo Mini I cloud?

I'm using the Farrari Blackhole 2.0.6 V2 on my Cloud iBox and no problems since I installed it yesterday. EPG works fine and I use a USB stick to keep a backup of the EPG so I can quickly reload it if needed. If you do use this image make sure after installing it you update the image.

Can be downloaded from here V2 version

V3 version

Green screen is not unusual I get it if I press a key several times instead of waiting for the first key press to work.

Is there a major diff between ver 2 and 3?

Yes I have a Cloud iBox and contrary to some members mine runs cool (well only just warm to the touch) even after say 12 hours of use.
I have the Blackhole 2.0.5 image on it and it's stability is excellent.
I am intrigued by the differences between these units so have arranged to get hold of one of the receivers that runs hot and take a look at the way they differ. If I can find a solution to the problem I will post it here.
If I find significant differences I will post some jpeg's so members getting one of the hot runners can try to return it to their suppliers.

Have you taken the bottom off and actuallly physically felt the heat sink?

mines a newer one with a fan already supplied on it and if i use it the right way up the heatsink is to hot to touch. If used upside down this dramatically helps and you can easily touch the HS

The openbox mini solo hd looks like it comes in at roughly 75 quid delivered from china..I dont know anyone who had tested one yet though. Dreamoem also advise that sim2 team have a vu solo clone and other vu clones including duo to be released soon.

Quite right the actual heatsink is hot however my receiver has never given me a problem. Just in case I have turned it upside down and removed the clip on bottom panel and card reader. I will run it that way for a couple of hours and check the heatsink again.

OK now we get weird.

First I agree 100% with GavinP running the receiver upside down DOES drastically reduce the heatsink temperature, the answer being that the fan (in mine) is sucking the hot air from the heatsink and down towards the ventilation holes in the base of the receiver (when the receiver is stood right way up).
Standing the receiver upside down allows the extracted hot air from the heatsink to easily escape through the ventilation holes now on top of the receiver.

OK now the weird bit.

Sometime ago a member complained of overheating and cutting out after an hours use, he has enlarged the holes in the base and removed the card reader as he was not using a card, I arranged to get his receiver for testing.
He was perfectly correct his receiver (same type as mine) was cutting out after about 45~60 minutes and only a mains off then on again would restore it.

I thought well I'm not using the card reader I'll remove mine, and guess what one hour later mine cut out for the first time ever, I plugged the card reader back in and it continued to work as normal.
This morning I made a full backup of my receiver and flashed it into the members receiver, it's now been working for ~6 hours without a problem.

OK I dont want to believe that removing the card reader caused BOTH receivers to cutout after say an hours use BUT both his and mine acted in exactly the same way and mine had never cut out before I removed the reader.

Told you it was weird.

its not weird its been posted a few times by users having trouble with lock ups

what version of vix image is it that works?

Ive tried a few images today that are for the solo and none of them worked:(

Dont know about vix but I'm using Blackhole 2.0.6 (Ferrai version V2) on my Cloud iBox and it's great. I did upload it a week or so ago and I think it's been moved to the download section.

See here for the image http://www.digitalworldz.co.uk/downloads-vu-solo-images-14/blackhole-2-0-6-1019.html

im using vix now as black hole kept crashing...............................no glitching at all on my cline and on hd channels

picture quality is amazing and box "touch wood" seems very fast........................

im almost tempted to buy a metal enclosure and build the ibox into it!

is there any images already "backed up" by members you know with plug ins and stuff already in it?

Hi, what build of vix ? thanks

you where lucky then

No I'm not the only one take a look at GavinP's post above he seems happy with his as well. I accept you've had a bad experience with your's but you should not condemn all these receivers when there are users who are satisfied with there's.
For the cost difference between one of these and a VU+ I accept the VU+ is better made but I cant afford to pay four times the price I paid for my cloud box for the same performance.
My two work fine with Blackhole 2.0.6 and thats good enough for me.

is there a way of checking what version it is???? as i cant remember but its running superbly with picons and crossepg................wanted to check stability before fiddling further.

Or maybe i can do a back up? i have no idea?

To be fair the cloud ibox is a badly made poor clone of a solo the case is laughable this is why they are so cheap. There are better solo clones around that do not suffer from overheat issues and have better cases etc..but they also cost more than the cloud ibox.

i tried different builds of vix 3.0 just didnt last past 1 day would crash, and wasnt heat problem as i modded it to be cool, i found openpli 3.0 rock solid , no crashes for weeks,
