Hi all, new here, I have been trying to get my vu+ duo to work starting from start...."flashing/mounting and so on".
Here is my dilemma and probably a completely stupid question but anyway here is the story.
I bought this box all set up with everything running but because of loads of error I decided to start from the start myself and no longer have to chase the technician down everytime somethin went wrong. Anywho here is the pickle, I thought to myself that it would be possible to setup channels from home without needing a server as the person I bought the thing off kept mentioning, do I need a main station so to speak or can I just get it running from here?

Sorry if what I am saying sounds stoopid but we all gotta learn some time lol

firstly you should have made a backup before you started messing around wuth the box ...anyway...is it a genuine or clone box ?....its simple to load a image onto the box...format a usb to fat32...download vix or blckhole image for vu+duo genuine or clone...copy the image onto the usb stick you should have afolder called "vuplus" and all other files should be in there automatically....turn off your vu+duo...plug in usb stick in the front and turn on vu+duo...then let it load the iamge...when done it will tell you to reboot box...then you can set up image to your spec...also then you can add cams, plugins, "sealions" etc.....

The file was corrupt I think because the person who set it up had everything set to save on internal flash, I have since put on vix and some list but they are all greyed out, is this only because of cams?

I got a solo today and tried the vix image to me it seems very slow to boot up, I then tried the Black Hole image and this seems a fair bit faster.

Unless you have a subscription or a " share " and a cam running , then all you will get are free to air channels. The rest will be grayed out.

If the channels are greyed out, this is becasue they are unavailable. This is possibly because of your tuner configuration.

In my view, it is unrelated to cams. Absence of a cam would still allow you to select a channel even though it cannot be decrypted.

On my duo,if I take the card out it greys out the premium channels. The same happens if I record 2 channels then try to view another channel.

That is because the tuner is unavailable.

How does the receiver know that a channel is encrypted or not or whether the encryption means are valid or not until it has actually selected it? Entitlements may have run out.

@OP, Please state what your physical dish/lnb setup is and how you have connected the wires to receiver.

What is the configuration of the tuners? You can find this out by: Menu > Setup > Service Searching > Tuner Configuration
