I've currently got an Amiko Mini HD SE that I've had for a year and a bit now, however I'm looking into the possibility of a VU+ Duo2 as a review spiked my interest.

How easy are these to set up compared to the Amiko? I understand that there will be some more work due to the complexity of it compared to the Amiko. What are the customisation options like?

I'm 50/50 on whether to buy one at the moment.

Not easy your moving on to enigma2 a linux variety.

You can pick it up quickly though if you can use FTP programs such as filezilla and if you have used putty telnet before then even better. If not then it a steep learning curve.

Well I've used Linux before, mostly messing about on Ubuntu however that was a while ago. I know telnet and FTP well enough so I think I may give it a go.

Are there any guides I can follow or tips?

If you know your way around Ubuntu and Debian then your 99% covered they are all Linux offshoots and use the same file structure so your good to go

I suggest you read these sections flashing a image is very basic your good with FTP and telnet so plugin and emu installs will come easy.

Okay excellent, I think I'll order one after Christmas, thank you both for your advice!

Big step up in box and very easy to setup if you can use ftp, there are plenty of backup images around on vu forms to,Openvix will be the easiest firmware to use
