Hello To every body!

I'm an old sat fan! I started at the age of 18 years old with a Pace DVB reciever, I used and set up Channel Master 1.20 meter polar mount sat dish!
I worked with voyager on pc, Gold wafer, I built myself a JDM programmer, I still have a Philipps D2MAC Decoder :p)

I was the first one in Belgium to have a DreamBox 7000! I'm a big Linux fan.

I worked for Evs Broadast Equipment in Belgium, this is the world leader company in slow motion (if you watching GP1 F1 FIA, World cup soccer or Olympic Games it's with their equipment!)

More Info there => Enriched. Live | EVS Broadcast Equipment

I build many Video MPeg 2 servers for the major brodcast company in the world.

I have a trusty DreamBox DM8000 Original still offer a good service except that crapie remote controle!

Now I really want to move to the best Linux sat avaible. I checked and I fing that thr VU+ Du2 is the best condidate!

Max of sat S2 is 2*2 = 4 sat tunner, it have Gigabit ethernet connector SATA III internal and e E-IDE port, Hdmi id present huge of ram, Flash nand too, Fast Dual Core 1.3Gz and amazing Dsplay front pannel

What do you think about this machine?
I mean about the quality of the equipement.
I can buy it at 400€ withoout Sat Tunner 2 * Twin sat S2 Tunner is 200€. I will loock to it a big HD SATAIII

Is it a goog machine?

I will move to the Black Hole VU Duo² Image.

What is the best image for it? But the last black hole image is to be set into the nand.

What cam do you use with it?

Do you know is the VU Due² will be able to become a NAS??? and if yest can it workd with a DLNA product?

Many Regards for you

Greetings from Belgium

Ive a Duo2 mate and to be honest im a bit of a receiver addict and if i could only have one it would be the Duo2, although i would like to try Gigablue 800HD with specs very similar to the duo2.

Blackhole and OpenATV are my favourites both have a very different feel to them.

Vu duo2 is a flying machine... i run vix... interested to hear why blackhole and openatv are better?

Thinking of getting one also, id want two cable tuners installed which makes it quite expensive so looking for a good price, or i might go with the gigablue all bells and whistles for about £300

If you need sat and dual cable the Gigablue is the way to go mate as is has 2 onboard Sat tuners and 2 spare slots for 2 cable tuners. The Duo 2 only has 2 tuner slots so if you fill it with 2 cable tuners you wont have a option for satellite.

Is that right i thought it had upto 4 tuners and i could use 2 of each, i guess the gigablue it is for me then, thanks mate

The duo 2 has just 2 slots the slots take twin tuner modules so you end up with 4 tuners. But you can not buy a twin cable tuner for the duo2.

There is a twin tuner dvb-c/t/t2 tuner coming for the Duo2/Ultimo/Uno

Meaning with the Duo2 there will be the option of twin sat and twin cable/terrestrial or quad sat or quad cable / terrestrial.

That clears that up, i do like the vu range and would like to stick with them but for less money you get a lot more with the gigablue

Not confirmed at the moment but i have read somewhere that VU+ are working on a Dual Cable P&P tuner module similar to there dual Satellite tuner, I would imagine as lost sales to Gigablue Quad+ here in the UK might have something to do with it especially as a lot of users want twin cable units with added satellite and this is where the Gigablue fills the market gap. Thats why i chose the Gigablue Quad+ over the Duo2.

Also do not discount the Xtrend range starting from the 8000 upwards 8000 has 3XP&P 8500 and 10000 models have 4XP&P

You can not get quad cable on a duo 2 mate

The dvb-c/t/t2 tuner you refer to has a single input so you get 1 cable input per tuner slot. If you put the dvb-c/t/t2 tuner in both slots you would end up with 2 cable tuners not 4 and no sat tuner options just terrestrial !

You can have quad sat though as those tuner have 2 sat inputs on one tuner.

See screenshots

You can switch between T/T2 or C but you can not set 1 tuner to C and 1 to T/T2 as you would need to use a splitter to put the 2 feed to the 1 input, and then the frequency's would cause interference.

But if you run 2x twin dvb-c/t/t2 tuners, you can have quad cable or quad terrestrial, or twin cable and twin terrestrial (a&b as cable and c&d as terrestrial or vice versa), for cable you would only need 1 input to the first card, then a loop cable from the output to the input of the 2nd card.

See screenshot above.

Thought as much just a shame that VU+ did not do something like Xtrend did and have 4 X P&P so you can mix and match everything

Yes I do believe they missed a trick with the Duo2, only having the 2 ports for tuners, even 3 would have been ok, leaving you with twin S2 and then 2 more single options as per the Ultimo.
