I have a Vuduo which has blackhole installed. Problem i have is that it is stuck booting up, says starting & does not kick into VUDuo or updating mode when you attach a USB with a backup image.

Previously I had a problem when i used a large internal hard drive & from another thread was informed that sometimes the power supply struggle with powering a Hard Drive & then the OS.

I have disconnected the Hard Drive & again this still sits saying Starting.

I have powered off & on several times.
I have done a couple of hard reboots, plug out, power button on for 10 minutes and then power on. Again Still sticks on starting.

Any ideas?

Have you tried using a different usb stick and also tried the other usb slots on the back.

Same usb front and back.

But will give another a go now and let you know! :)

Tried 2 USB sticks formatted to Fat 32, 2 different images installed on each.

Tried all 3 usb slots :(

You can hear the Hard Drive boot & spin up fully. It normally took 5 - 10 seconds for the front to move from "Starting" to "Vu Duo"

Concidering a few wacks with a hammer! lol

You may need to flash the chip again using your RS232 cable.
I had this happen a few times and had to do this but in the end it stopped working with that method.
I had to buy a cypress board to then flash it...but it worked.

My vu is sat in the garage collecting dust. I had this problem a while back and any amount of flashing did not fox it, I ended up having to replace some caps on the power board which seemed to sort it but was very hit and miss after that (was using as my server) just used another box instead.

thanks guys, i was hoping more for a simple fix. Im glad its my backup spare room box!

May try replacing some of the capacitors as a cheap fix attempt & look at flashing with the Rs232 cable but would need to read up on this a bit & source a laptop with a connection from work.

thanks for your time to help.

You would have got the cable with the box mate?

So you may well have it lying around some were

Yeah, have it around somewhere, have flashed from V2 to V3 previously on a few boxes. Trouble was getting a laptop running windows xp & a serial connection.

Had no problem doing mine on Windows 7 laptop.

hi mine was stuck on starting if the red light (standbye) is on it is likely your c807 condenser has gone easy fix just look up about red light stuck on starting I changed mine and perfect just a thought

I bought a red-light Vu+ Duo off of eBay as a cheapish way of getting my hands on a genuine box. The description said that it just stopped working and he couldn't be bothered tinkering so he had just bought another.

I collected it off him but when I got it home there were 4 mismatched screws in the back which did not really tally with no tinkering. Anyway I got a friend to change the main caps for me but still no joy. I even sent off to SE Asia for a replacement component but it was still faulty. The next step would have been to change the PSU but by this time I was losing the will to live so I just dumped it. A £110 lesson learn.
