Hello all!
Nice to see my thread has moved on.
When I first created this thread, I eventually re-wrote the nand with blackhole 1.7.2 and got my device working. It has since died again, and in a different way this time. Its exactly the same as mentioned by davefingers - kernal panic. tried different versions and all reprogram fine, but all crash, except for openpli. I now have openpli booted, but no tuner. I hacked together a null modem as mentioned and I am not getting any response from my security chip. I am now thinking of buying a spare chip (or 2 or 3!) to reprogram, but how do I re-program it? Has anyone got the correct mini vu+ duo firmware for the stm8s103k3 chip. If i understand you correctly brianmullen8, are you saying I can use a product called renewares and flash the ferrari 3.2 firmware to this chip? Where do I get this software and firmware from? From a little research i have seen, doing things like this may lead to hdmi and network point not working anymore - are all these things controlled from this chip?

To my knowledge, nobody has managed to either reprogram the original chip or found the firmware to flash a new security chip. some have had success implanting a full size Duo clone security module, not that you can buy those either.
