I am using PLi image and I have no problem watching HD cannels over the web interface.

It doesnt handle any sort of buffering very well, it tends to cut you off when it drops signal for a second rather than waiting till it receives another signal, I think making sure you have a decent network connection between box and computer is important.

I've got the same issue with VIX 1.3 image, I've not had my box long so haven't tried another image yet but it can't be a bandwidth issue because it does it on the LAN too on SD and HD.

DC

you connect via LAN or WLAN?

I've found the little wireless dreambox dongles pretty useless for any sort of streaming.

Yeah same issue on the LAN using Cat5e as over the net, just drops out after a few seconds.

And yes your right wireless is pretty rubbish when it comes to streaming video especially HD.

Sounds like there is something wrong then mate, I struggle with HD channels due to me having a wireless N bridge but SD works absolutely fine, even on my DM800 clone which is far more under powered than the VU+ I am able to stream video fine over the web.

What Image are you using on your duo mate?

Vix 1.3 mate.

The SD works absolutely fine on my little netbook as well so it's not a PC hardware issue. Are you able to try connecting the VU+ to the PC using another router or directly with an ethernet cable? (might need a crossover cable for direct connection depending on the network cards)

Also are you able to watch HD content streamed from your network on the VU+ video player? Playing a decent size 1080p file will let you know if it's a network bandwidth issue.

I haven't tried that yet but I could do it on my DM800 and I can also stream stuff fine to my PS3 from my PC over the same network even MKV 1080P. I've got a gigabit hub running the internal side of things so I'm sure it's not a bandwidth thing.

I've forwarded port 8080 to my VU and also port 1234 to my VU and then set these up on the VU webif, is this part right? I have also configured the VU to have a static IP.

I've tried using different versions of VLC and still no joy. :wtf: it's doing my head in lol.

If you use the pli image it works well with the latest version of VLC. no need to install an old version. I have never had an issue and I use it all the time. (I say I have never had an issue I cant play back hd content cause my pc is a pile of XXXX I know this causes I also cannot play hd content from the internet such as from bbc iplayer even I download the raw file (not stream)).
