im looking at getting a vu box, theres quite a few out there now so which one would best suit?

id be looking at using it for cable (already got a dm800 for sat) and as long as I can record on it I'm happy......ive looked at the vu+solo2 and the vu+duo any thoughts???

cheers.

Solo 2 se has a tuner slot so you could get it with a cable tuner in. Good setup that is as a dual tuner.

Vu Duo and solo 2 has just fixed tuners so not ideal unless you run a usb tuner.

Duo 2 has slots but is expensive.

vu+ultimo ,can have 3 tuners all, removable, i have two of these, each with 2 sat tuner and 1 cable tuner..great boxes..lots of image support, vix, blackhole etc..plenty of addons..

If you can get a second hand Ultimo, that would be ideal. Unfortunately, they hold their price.

If you are willing to consider other makes, you can get a TM Nano SE M2 Plus. it has three tuners, 2 cable and 1 sat and accepts a 2.5 sata drive. Your choice of images will be limited though. £138

Excellent box the TM nano is for the money but like Abu says you will only realy be able to use atv/vix/pli

Right I think my minds made up, duo 2!!
Do I need to add anything tuner wise (gives a few extra options from supplier) or is it ready to go for sat and cable??

Cheers.

You pick the tuners you want. You can only connect two tuner cards. If buying now, I'd buy a twin DVB-C card.

You could wait and see how the full band capture tuners for DVB-C work out on the upcoming receivers.

thanks for your help mate, so just to confirm if I get a twin DVB-C card this will do for both cable and sky??

also any ideas about upcoming servers when would these roughly be due out??

just not 100% sure on their tuner options

cheers again.
