virgin phoned me yesterday about giving me a tivo box for free and all channels including broadband for £60 because I have been with them for so long I havent had anything but the broadband for about 3 years from them but i do phone up and complain everytime they increase the price and at the moment I get 30GB for £17.65pm

I too am with virgin.
I was asking them about netflix-trying to get free.
while i was on they asked me to sign up for 12 month again.
I was on 120mb internet m+ tv and weekend phone including tivo box £51.29 pm
I was going to get internet upgrade free in march next year but they upgraded me and give me free call after 7pm mon-fr for 9 pence cheaper a month.

Threaten to move to Bt etc , done that twice now got a price cut , but be careful they send out a new contract which ties you in from 12 or 18 months.

it is quite cheeky how they increase the price every year, while give you no additional services or upgrading you to the latest / equivalent speed which new customers get!

All they say about the price increase when you ask them is that it's for the extra cost of increasing there infrastructure, the only thing that keeps me with them is the fact they have good stable broadband

150mb m tv and phone and 4 bent tv boxes £45 bargin

If it wasn't for the bb they would be dead in the water. Still though I find them much better than bt for Bb and TV. My mother always moans about the price of sky also so I'm not that bothered as they are all price fixing. At least my tinterweb is ok.

If sky could sort there broadband out to rival virgin media then we could see prices coming down as they compete for customers at the moment sky are nowhere near virgin as speed goes and most people would rather fast broadband rather than loads of tv channels with loads of repeats

I have just upgraded to 150mg with a new superhub the wifi is by far the best I have had 5g now works at no extra cost so far I bet they will increase price soon

my bill went up £5 this month.
I rung up to complain and the guy didn't even argue with me, just reduced it back to what i was paying.

We've been with them since the old Nynex days (cable & wireless, NTL then Virgin).

Can't really fault them. We ditched the TV last year and now just have 200mb broadband and phone for £43 (including latest price increase).

There are quite a few ways to watch the tv shows we want to watch.

We also use them for mobile, and as the whole family also uses virgin mobile we don't ever pay for calls between us, and very rarely call anyone else.

Yes the price does go up each year, sometimes twice, but the speed also goes up normally.

I've heard a few horror stories about virgin but not half as many as other companies, and since they upgraded us from 120mb to 150mb last year there's been no speed throtteling at any time of day for us, although I still download most of the 3tb/pm I get overnight as I have done for years.

It pays to keep an eye on their website and compare prices with your bill and if you find that it's cheaper on their website give them a call. last year they knocked £9 p/m off our bill.

Very similar to you, was with them when it was bell cable media here! We have 100mb BB and landline me and daughters have virgin mobiles, as you say lots of other ways to get TV.
They are upgrading me to 150mb but I have to get the new hub (I think) and they want £5.99 to deliver it (P+P)
ATM before the price hike I pay £31.44 for BB and talk eve and weekend + 16.99 landline = £48.43 (going up to £51.92) then we have calls which averages to £53 - £54 PM old price.
Looking at their website - free eve + w/e calls + £4.60, talk unlimited is + £8.00
My current package (without eve + w/e calls) is £47.32 comparing it to captain’s deal (£43.00), and I’m only on 100mb
Had a quick look at sky 38mb BB, landline = £37.40
None of these prices are for deals, they are the price you pay atm. I’ll certainly be giving them a ring

got my bill in today and guess what!, fookers still hadn't put my bill down. (was origianlly £39.99, put up to £43.32)

rung em up again and got oput through to customer relations..

This guy has put my bill down to £36.99 per month for 6 months then £39.99 another 6 months.
Has also upgraded my tv package to include extra channels like sky 1 even though i told him i never plug the tivo in lol.
Also getting a speed upgrade from 100meg to 150meg.

I never agreed to a new contract or extended contract, so puts me in a good bargaining position when these discounts run their course as i will be out of contract.. :)

Just shows you have to keep at them to get any sort of discount...

You have to watch them (virgin) called them to complain about my package price, after lots of whinging I have got 200mb BB, landline phone rental with free calls for £48.99 per month for 18 months but I'm tied into a 12 month contract! oh and the new hub sent free of charge which is a £9 PM discount. they tried to charge me £9.99 connection fee but got that refunded as well, so pleased with that and thanks to captain's post 12.
