OK I will try and explain

my daughter has a 30 day rolling contract 250 mins, in limited txts, and 1 GB data we have had this issue over 3 mobiles so its not the phone, her mobile data is used only when she is out and needs a connect, something on the mobile is trying to connect to mobile data she has used a galaxy s6, iPhone 6s plus we thought it was down to the apps, so for her birthday we got her a new mobile, this time I said to her don't install anything until its sorted, any way its still doing it, I have run virgin and you can guess what they said after trying to explain for 2 days we still cant pin point the issue (PS all the time I tries to connect to data it uses 6k and virgin charge £2 over her limit which is way over the price) it meant to be £2 per day but they are charging £2 per time, I didn't complain and got money back but they cant explain why its happening, you chaps got any ideas.

PS the mobile keeps say mobile data turned off but don't say what's trying to connect, is there anything I can install to see what's trying to connect

cheers

Not sure if this is what you're looking for @Napster but if she's still on an android phone try Settings --> Mobile Data (option here to turn mobile data on/off but press the mobile data part rather than the on/off toggle) Should show what app's using the data in there?
Worth a try? Might need to change the cycle dates to start monitoring afresh, can't see how to reset the amounts.
HH.

i got android phone and have flashed cyongenmod rom on it, in settings i have a section called data usage. it shows what app is using how much data.
maybe look on app store must be a data usage app

Ya see the “Settings” > “Data Usage“, or
Social media apps tend to use the most data if setup with certain configurations. The Google+ app seems to be a major data eater for many Android users these days with it’s “Auto Backup” feature that automatically uploads every photo and video you take to Google+. Facebook is another app that can tax your battery by constantly displaying notifications.
Check the “Settings” section within all your social apps and ensure that nothing is set to automatically upload your stuff, or at least set them to only upload when connected to a Wi-Fi network. Set the intervals of your apps to only sync data every few hours instead of every 15 minutes.

Try this app >>My Data Manager - Data Usage - Android Apps on Google Play

Which phone is it? Is it a Chinese phone as they sometimes have spyware installed on them :(

Oh you say its the same on 3 different phones then it must be Vermin

Have you tried a different sim card? Get VM to send another one out. Possibly a faulty sim or its been copied?

Yes tried a new sim and and 3 different makes of mobiles

I tend to be a direct person and probably get into trouble for it, but i can't change who I am. So please don't take offense when i say this.

Occam's Razor says it best. [FONT=&quot]The simplest explanation is usually the right one

You've covered all the bases except the source its coming from!

Have you made sure roaming is off? Also try changing preferred network type ie 4g to 3g to see if that's helps
