sony ericsson k750i, pay as yo go, virgin media. you say if a buy more than £30 top up they give me unlock code?

yes for free but i only ever got one for a nokia don't know if sony use the same method though: spook :

if you have spent £30 or more on the phone since you have had it you can phone them for the pac code this enables you to unlock the phone yourself. they send all the instructions to do this.
if you have bought the phone from someone else and they have registered it with them they will have to do it for you.
if the phone is yours and you have registered it with them you might be eligible for a discount off a newer phone under their reds scheme. £10 off for every £100 spent.

This is incorrect. The PAC code only allows you to port (transfer) your current mobile number to another network.

PAC code stands for Porting Authority Code.

sorry! yes you are right you also have to ask for the unlock code! as termy points out the pac code is to get your number transfered. my mistake, when i did it i wanted both!

i think it depends on the phone, but if you have spent £30 or more all you have to do is phone virgin and they will send you the code to unlock it!

use google - there are a number of freeware unlockers out there - not available for all phones as some need flashing.

Nokia's seem to be the easiest to unlock with the software available.

Try a decent local phone shop, should unlock within 5 mins and cost between £5-£10 or get the code from Virgin, however we get a lot of customers with codes from the networks that dont work or they dont enter them correctly or they have been entered wrong too many times...
