NO ITV HD for Scotland and Ireland ??

whats this all about then ? I suggest you guys change your postcodes

why though I dont know ?

If you have a Scotland or Northern Ireland postcode you will not be able to receive ITV HD.

EDIT:Ive been reading that Scotish ITV regions do not offer red button services and thats the reason
so if you enter a UK postcode or use another region you guys should be fine

The ability to change the postcode/area is a clear advantage of Freesat over Sky. Having the freedom of choice instead of being forced & controlled is a much better plan. For Welsh, Scottish, Northern Irish, and british expats who want English versions of broadcasts then it is a good solution because its always been a big problem with sky receivers & the ftv card.

is there a technical reason why we cant get these channels at all?

all Ive read is that scotish and Irish regions dont offer red button

but I dont get no red button prompt in london so if I were you guys Id wait and see if you get prompted at start of ITV match

odd, we get the red button prompt up in scotland on freeview

I do not fully understand myself but I'd say it is to do with broadcast licences and broadcast rights. Its all red-tape rubbish but ITV has different licences to broadcast in Scotland and in Northern Ireland, so like thats why there are S-TV and U-TV. Each country requires broadcast licences for every channel, and each program has royalty charges based on how many countries you are broadcasting to. I.e. if you buy rights to Premiereship football and want to broadcast exclusively in England & Wales you'd pay X, but to include exclusive rights in NI and Scotland would be X+Y, then to broadcast in England, Scotland, Wales, NI, France, Spain, Italy, you'd pay X+Y+Z+2arms+3legs

It's to do with who owns what.

Granada and Carlton who owned most regions between them merged and become ITV.

STV is owned by SMG plc

UTV is owned by UTV Media plc

So Granada/Carlton ITV have probably said to the above to put some cash in or you don't get the channel.
