You should get familiar with the standard instructions that come with your receiver for normal simple functions. The Freesat receiver will simply auto-tune all of the Freesat EPG listed channels, see the list in the seperate post below.

This standard epg list will only contain free channels that come as part of the Freesat service and does not include every free channel that is broadcasting. Notice in the Humax Foxsat menu that you can add extra channels manually.
A full list of channels broadcasting on 28*east is found here- Eurobird 1 & Astra 2A/2B/2C/2D at 28.2°E - LyngSat
Note in the encryption column that 'F' denotes the free channels, and note how many additional free radio stations there are!

Some notable ones that are not currently included in the freesat epg are as follows-
Luxe TV (High Definition & SD) - 12643 H 27500 2/3
Zone Horror & Zone Reality+1 - 11261 H 27500 2/3
Zone Reality Extra - 11222 H 27500 2/3
Zone Reality - 12523 V 27500 2/3
Fight Network - 11260 V 27500 2/3
Bliss, Flava, NME, and some extra +1hr channels on 11642 V 27500 2/3
Sky News - 12207 V 27500 2/3
Euro News - 12560 V 27500 2/3
ITV2+1 - 10714 H 22000 5/6
E4+1 More4+1 Ch4+1 Film4+1 - 10729 V 22000 5/6

But there are lots more specialist channels or plus 1 hour versions too, so take a look.

##Tip 1## To switch between Freesat channel mode and Non-freesat channel mode you need to choose= Menu > Settings > STB Mode > then option of Freesat or STB (Non-Freesat).
================================================

Motorised and fixed Disecq dishes can be set up and used. You need to access a hidden menu if you have a dish capable of more than the standard reception from 28* east.

##Tip 2## In the Humax Foxsat set-up menu, highlight 'Manual Tune' then press 'red green yellow blue green yellow and blue' on remote. This is the hidden section that allows you to configure to your corresponding dish setup.

##Tip 3## While in the Foxsat hidden menu you are able to press 'red green yellow blue green yellow and blue' again to access a super hidden menu. Here you are able to break your box and stop it from working :).

am I right in thinking anything that is FTA on astra 2D and Eurobird 1 are receivable via the freesat system ?

without epg I would imagine but still viewable

Yep correct, as well as 2A or 2B, or north beam or south beam :). The whole Astra2 cluster located at 28*East. 2C is also now in place but not broadcasting any channels, and might not have any fta anyway.

You got to try out 'Bedroom Tv' music videos channel Rat, maybe even upload a few tunes for us.

Is there no way to add non freesat channels into the EPG listing?
ie SKY NEWS without going through menu settings?

This is putting me off getting a box.

It's the opposite of SKY FTA where all channels are in the EPG and you can't remove one's which are encrypted.
