Some good films released of late

The Americans are producing some cracking films recently.

Just watched Unbroken tonight and American sniper the other night. Two cracking films and recommend them :)
 
i want to see unbroken looks very good , is there a good copy out then of that film , couldnt see no dvdr [4.35 gb ] ??
 
I watched it on a screener and was not too bad. Full surround sound and only the odd warning

I was put off unbroken by the reviews on i.m.d.b, but it is obviously the troll factor in play, that's the trouble review sites these days.
 
Its a long film mate but a lot of content also with it being a true story it adds that bit extra.
 
There is a couple of others films, I've avoided because of reviews, birdman is one and the other is the gambler, have you watched these yet?
 
no mate but might grab them.
Reviews are subjective tbh. I just watch and can normally tell 20 mins in if its worth watching
 
I know that people have different taste in films, but I would trust a review on here far more than on i.md.b these days.
 
Hate to disagree with you chaps but I thought American Sniper was pretty tedious, definitely overly long. Birdman I lasted 20 mins & gave up, not often I do that with a film.
Different strokes for different folks?

@HappyH thanks for your take on it. I will probably give american sniper a try, as a good friend is military movie mad, but I think I will give birdman a miss.

Watched Birdman with the Missus and she gave up on it about 10 minutes into it, I did watch it to the end and have to say it's not your usual film fodder and you need to be a bit different to appreciate it. I guess that's why the critics are raving about it but the rest of the viewers including myself are scratching their heads over it.
 
Birdman - loved how it was shot, the acting was great but hard going sticking with it. the last 10 seconds confused me as i thought i knew what was going on...
