the bedroom tax will save the gov around £500 mill and by the time it reaches the bank of cameron it will be even less,, and it will affect the most needy,, they say that by stopping some of the benefits to rich or middle classes that do not need the money and only use it as pocket money for luxurys,, it will raise over a billion,, go figure. Every body else is means tested but not them.. Peter Stringfellow gets heating allowance,, some*unts having a laugh... £500 million??? Bedroom tax was always bollocks. Most places in the country don't have suitable property to downsize to so buggered if you do and buggared if you don't. Total rip-off, end of.

I watched the program too - simple solution, there is absolutely no reason to pay anyone benefits above what they need. Pensioners getting winter fuel allowance? Sure, if they're poor. If they get the average wage or better then fook off - p1ss-take. No-one should get benefits above the average wage unless they have special requirements.

Bleeding hearts and liberals hate means-testing because it puts people off applying for benefits they deserve. Easy answer, means-test like the Census - you are REQUIRED to answer, then pay them what they deserve. We'd save a bloody fortune and the people that deserved it would get it.

If you live abroad, apply abroad, get your benefits in the Cayman Isles, job done...

fecking forgot about the middle classes living abroad in warm countries getting winter fuel allowance, ffs but as they said mate they got to keep the well off gray hair brigade living nicely or lose their votes, piss take of a high degree

I had a big long reply to this with examples but decided it wouldn't change anybody's view so deleted and put a shorter one.

It is a thorny issue non means tested benefits of any kind, however successive governments of all colours have had the opportunity to change it but none of them have had the balls to do it.
