hi peeps. i consider myself quite an old hand with xp but this has me stumped. i've had some serious serious probs with spyware etc recently. used"succesfuly " i beleive many progs to clean up. all seems great till i todaY HAD CAUSE TO LOOK AT DEVICE MANAGER. hMM... MANAGER WINDOW IS THERE BUT THERE'S NOWT SHOWING AT ALL. I CAN SEE MENUS AND ENGAGE TREE BUT STILL NOWT. ANY TECHYS OUT THERE TO GIVE ADVICE PLS. EXCEPT JUNK AND START AGAIN, THAT THOUGHT IS CLOSE AT HAND LOL. TIA

Have a read through this HUGE thread.
Some pesky spyware has probably changed the offending registry key, and the pc doesn't have permission to display the Device Manager contents anymore.
Would be worth making a back up of your registry if you're not feeling confident about delving into the registry, although it does look pretty simple to fix.
