Will an American Wii work in the UK ?

Going to NY thinking of picking up a Wii over there.

Will it work ok here ?

Will be fine, but.....

You will need to use NTSC/U games or if getting it modded you will not be able to update from PAL games.

probably wouldnt mod it, so id have to get American games ? damn , are they easy to get hold of in the uk ?

I cant say Ive tried looking having a PAL machine modded lol.

Should be just as easy to get USA games as PAL, just have a look around your fav torrent sites

just for info

got a US wii, (using it in UK) modded with D2pro v1.1b (at present)

you can use a UK wii power supply on it, works a treat, so no need for a step down

as mine is modded, it is region free, so i use brickblocker on PAL games which work well.

i connected it to the net here in the UK and it connected to the US servers and downloaded latest wii firmware.

mario kart, SSBB and mario galaxy work a treat

heres a rough guide on prices

UK - £179.99 for the console etc PLUS game (Wii sports)
AUSTRALIA - $399.95 for same package as UK/USA
USA - $250.00 for console etc PLUS game (Wii sports again)
JAPAN - Y25,000 for console etc (no game)

Unmoddable Wii's are also more common over the pond.

That could be worth considering.
