Hey,

been looking around the last few weeks at new enigma2 recivers as thinking of upgrading from my solo2.

Im noticing a lot have 2GB or 4GB flash memory.

i have a lot of plugins on my solo2 and still have like 80MB flash left out of 256MB. 4Gb is an insane amount that would never in a million years be used id say.

Is there some other reason for so much memory?

they might be planning to use flash for other things stored not like the old solo with spinning vix with a low flash threshold?

Its a little on the overkill side but factor in a Kodi install, picons in the flash epg.dat saves you messing around with usb sticks.

Really absolutely no need since it's read once off usb and goes into memory then anyway.

As technology moves on, the newer chips available to manufacturers become bigger. Using smaller chips will be more expensive.
