Hi.
I have renault grand scenic 2010 1.5 deasle . With dpf fitted
Over past couple of weeks as it's been getting colder when I start my car I get a quite a bit of Gray / white smoke coming out of back of car. If I rev it a little bit it splutters a bit. But the smoke and stuttering clear within seconds.
I am not sure it's anything to do with this treatment I put in the tank every third fill which is meant to help clear the pdf. I

Possibly the glow plugs mate?
I had the same problem a few years back with the older scenic.

Apparently, the colder the weather gets, the longer they stay on.

Does the orange light come on the dash before it cranks??

Hi. Thanks for replying.
No there no lights on before , during or after I start the car.

Sound's like the glow plugs, glow plug relay or even a temperature sensor.
Probably best to get it cheched on a diagnostic.
Get it into your local mechanic mate.

It'll be condensation turning to steam in your exhaust

If it goes away after driving a few miles, then it will just be moisture in the exhaust. If not, then it won't pass the MOT. Any visible smoke from the exhaust is an instant fail. The MOT tester will warm the engine up first before testing the emissions.

Hi,

no prob in my opinion. As already mentioned, it is probably condensation. As long as the DPF is cold, it is relatively inefficient. Particles pass through the exhaust to the outside, which serve as "condensing cores" for the humidity. If the DPF is warm, due to less paticles, no "fog" can form.

If there is no loss of coolant, black or blue smoke (with a smell of burned oil..) comes from the exhaust: just Ignore it.
