search ebay for willem

Got myself one of these from ebay as lacking serial ports now

RED-K149-USB-Microchip-PIC-Programmer arrived within the week and excellent value for USB based programmer - came with drivers and software - connected, installed and flashed a chip within 10 mins of opening - works on laptop with no extra power supply required - Zif socket for easy insertion - Has Autoset feature for fuses - 12F629 is erasable so fitted into Wii with a dil socket and so far used the 1 chip with each version of WiiFree now running 1.5 and working perfectly

thanks guys fro your excellent feedback. I`m deffo going to give it a go..

i dont really want to build a programmer (i wouldnt get round to it..lol)
but i want to do my own chip as i can do the updates as and when required
so any help would be appreciated..

1. where can i buy a programmer in the uk (ebay seem to be hong kong sellers)
any links to a reptable seller would be good.

2. any advantages/disadvantages between the chips 12F629_675 or 12F683

3 rs has these chips but they have different codes after the chips e.g. E/P E/SN etc ... is there a certain code i should look for.

i usually read, read again... then read some more before i ask for info, but i just want to make sure i get the correct kit first time.

regards
jase
