hi, im new to this site, tried to do a search on different boxes and how they work, can anyone point me in the right direction?

i just wanted to know which dreambox to get, that is already set up as i don't know how to use linux?

also where is the best/cheapest place to buy the dreambox?

Thanks in advance

There is no such thinh as an already set up dreambox or any other linux box...The whole point of linux boxes is that they are hobbyist boxes..fo people who like messing around...and either have some knowledge already or are willing to learn...

If you want plug and play linux recievers are probably not for you....the only places that I know of that sell pre configured linux boxes normally bundle them in 12 months cardshare subscription etc...and charge silly prices...

but some people have brought dreamboxes which are just plug and play and they have alredi been configured to receive freeview etc.

Get a dm500s mate and follow the sticky in the dreambox thread on how to set them up . It's not difficult at all even if your new to linux

It is true that a large amount of dim people fall for these cons regular with a pre-configured box, just the same as falling for email spam scams I guess there will always be those type of people to keep criminal fraudsters in business. Every day someone somewhere believes they really must have won the Nigerian lottery... Since you have joined a forum and are looking for help, I'd guess you have more sense than these types of consumer. Therefore, I'm sure you will cope fine with a linux satellite receiver. :)

Setting up a box to receive free view channels does only require about 3 or 4 steps to have it up and running but as said there is more you can then do.

connect it to dish, choose some settings, do scan and that is it.
