I bought the civic in the end and so far it looks and performs very well.
Just one slight concern. At times when braking the car makes some sort of whistling sound and at other most times it doesn't.
Should this be something for me to be alarmed about?

I am going to the garage of where the car was bought on Tuesday/Wednesday as the motor of the windscreen seems to have gone but the Garage owner is cool and is sorting it all out of hes expenses.
The car passed its MOT last month, so they think it must of happened soon after.

Another issue is the windscreen when it rains which aint to do with mechanical issues as the exact same problem happens in the family CRV.
So when it rains the windscreen gets all misty and the only quickest way to get rid of it is with aircond, which uses allot of the petrol?
Any alternative to getting it clearer quicker?

dunno about your windscreen issue but the whistling noise is our breaks. nothing overly major it just means its come to the end of its life and needs changing.

get them changed before it gets really bad and starts digging into the discs then you will need to change both pads and dics.

Thanx for the info guys.
With them wipes, Its ok to clean the mist off but if its raining that day continuously then the mist will just keep reappearing.

Using your air con just to clear your windscreen is nothing. Using your aircon only boosts up fuel consumption about as much as if you were driving about 50 along the road with the window down.

You can turn the aircon off then and turn the heat up a bit with the blowers on about their mid setting once the window is clear..... my aircon clears the window in about 20 seconds even when it's in need of a regas. Once it's clear, I just turn it off and leave the air blowing. That's hardly anytime with the aircon on at all. It's a good idea to run the aircon now and again for a while anyway otherwise they could smell bad.
