Hi all
I have now got a pre updated Ambit 200 and the ability to change the mac. BUT whats the best way forward. I have a 3meg mac to put on it, but I'm worried about putting this on to the modem and connecting it up and having it lock up. What do I need to do??

thanks

you got to put this in with no feed

cd non-vol\snmp
max_dload_tries 0

Ambit 200 Modem Unlocking, How to restore shell locked 200 modems

Requirements:

Copy of preupdate image. Either from flash dump , Image one can easily extracted from and dump in hexeditor (it needs byteswapping) or can be extracted from an unlocked modem.
Boot your working preupdated modem with hyperterminal loaded and power, feed & rs232 connected.
Let it finish booting to CM> prompt then follow guide below.

TFTP server - i used solarwinds

Connect enthernet to pc and manually set ip addy of 192.168.100.2
run the tftp server and host the image file.

Terminal into the locked modem and reboot it.

You need to press p immediatly when promted.

Terminal capture continues

Enter '1', '2', or 'p' within 2 seconds or take default... Press P

thanks for that ... looks tricky that bit.
I just want a tried and tested way of getting my ambit 200 to stay on and not get zapped. I just know my luck that I'll put on the 3 meg mac and as soon as I hook it up it will lock.... or am I WRONG??

looks like I need to put the no update commands in first and then put on a loq 1 meg mac to prevent it updating. Do you think a 2 meg one would be low enough or am I pushing it :)

up to you m8,but i like to get as much as i can, whats the point in 1 meg i pay 4 a 2 meg line but on my other com i running 10 meg but i do beleive you got to pay 4 something

can I ask what your runing? and what would you do in my shoes

well run the 1 meg line say 4 a week then go up in to 2 meg in a week see if that noupdate works get used to that ,i,m running a sb i new a few months what ntl were doing so i bought 1 cheap but they have gone very high price
