What Modem?

After the recent problems I am still interested in purchasing a modem to get some high speeds.

WHat modem should I purchase and where from?
I tried fleabay and they only selling 200's and 250's but doesnt say if its pre updated or not.

Im new to all this but from what I read, at the present time I should stay away from the 100-250 range as it wont get me a stable connection?

Does that mean I should go for a surfboard modem for stable connections?

Yeah surfboard is got to be the way to go.
All my ambits are on the shelf.
I'm expecting a sb tomorrow.
No bad reports about the sb once you get them online.
Quite a bit dearer though but worth it i think.
You would have to scan for a hih mac on an ambit.
Any old mac form diff gateway and just tell the modem waht speed you want.
A bit more complicated than that but it gives yo the idea.

You can use any mac light mid or high, just force it to the full 10mb!

Is this only for surfboards?

If so how do I update the surboards?
Is it the same as a 200 using Hyper terminal?

Ive got a bid on fleabay for a 200 modem. As soon as it comes through im suppose order a RS232 cable for it.

If its easier and will gurantee work much better on a surfboard then I think I might change?
