I'm reading ShantaRam by Gregory David Roberts.

hXXp://www.amazon.co.uk/Shantaram-Gregory-David-Roberts/dp/0349117543/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1216205480&sr=8-1

I'm also finished and would highly recommend this as a general read. Its a great biographical story of a man who breaks out of prison and goes on a wonderful journey across India.

Anyone got any good recommendations? I'm pretty open to most genres.

Engleby by Sebastian Faulks.

Just finished Doris Lessings's Alfred & Emily.

Just read the readers reviews of Engleby. Some of the reviewers put it amongst the best books they have ever read.

How do you rate it Hamba? I'm thinking of reserving it down the library.

I'm really enjoying it - excellent, I would say.

I'm reading two books both short stories, The Best of Kuttner, some of Henry Kuttners best short stories, and Time and Space, a selection of short stories by various authors, both books are Sci-Fi.

All the best

Love Krakauer. The guy is a fantastic writer.

I am looking for a cheap copy of Oppenheimer's [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/American-Prometheus-Triumph-Tragedy-Oppenheimer/dp/184354704X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1216222103&sr=1-1"]Biography [/ame]next.

This is a nice thread. No xenophobia or arguments yet! :)

I don't read. I can't concentrate for long enough. The Mrs is reading His Dark Material collection by Philip Pullman. aka The Golden Compass trilogy.

She says it is much better, darker than Harry potter.

Littlewoods Catalogue Summer 2008

@Earwig, I read that series, and personally hated it. lol. Thought it was drawn out, and not well structured. Didnt enjoy the series :(

@Witchy, your only looking at the bikini sections. lol.

Recently finished the Dark River by John Twelve Hawks, second book of the trilogy, and a very good read. I would also recommend Battle Royal the book, very graphic, but an intense read. Also other good ones are:

1984 - George Orwell
Brave new world - Auldus Huxley
Catch22 - Joseph Heller
Slaughterhouse 5 - Kurt Vongut

There are a few more, but its really depends on what you enjoy reading.
