Went to court today!

Just a speeding fine and yes I was guilty of doing 62 in 50 zone.
First driving offence ever!

I plead mitigating circumstances as I was on my way to deal with person who had tried to hurt both my daughters in the most indecent manner.

But the magistrate said because my girls were not in any danger at the time of my speeding offence, it didn't count.

Don't get me wrong speed kills, but so does waiting for the law to do something these days.

tbh I can't see that going down well - "Sorry your honour - I was in a rush to beat the living crap out of somebody."

I'm with the op on this one.
Do we have to wait for his girls to be raped or worse before we do anvthing about it ?
I'm against speeding but if a bank was being robbed the cops would be doing 100 mph to get there.
When it's personal they don't seem to bother that much

Good point Charlie. Can you not appeal?

I think the key word is here they were not in danger at the time ... so really there was no rush to get there. He could have driven there within the speed limit before beating seven shades of blue out of the 'victim'.

If you gonna kill scum fine but don't put others at risk.

If you hit some child in the road would you be any better than the person who had wronged you?

and how or when do you know they are in danger mate if we new that then maybe us fathers could put a stop to all these horrible things happening in this sick world now but most of the time its a guessing game when and if it will happen I'm sure you would break the speed limit if it would stop any harm coming to your children ..even if your wrong 9 times out of ten that one time is worth it to stop harm to your child

Thanks guy's for the replies :)
There's nothing to appeal on this one.

As for killing a child, it was 1.30am on a week day and where I got clipped there is nothing but farmland. The only reason they put a speed camera in there is because they can't be arsed fixing the road properly.

I still wouldn't advise anyone to take the law into your own hands.
But in my case I had been to the police first and chargers were pressed against them. But they got off! C.P.S gave them a slap on the wrist! Out of court deal! They said that it would cost to much and it wouldn't be a slam dunk in court. The C.P.S only like taking the open and shut cases to court.

The family who's son(brother in-law) that did this to my daughters just kept turning up at my place when ever they felt like it, pretending nothing had happened. Texting my wife saying it was her fault somehow (sick bastards). My wife showed me one of the texts on the night in question.
So that's when I had enough and dealt with it my way.

The state of things these days means I have to consider protecting my own first. Even when the law says no :(

the 'justice' system is a fkin joke, unless youre the person who has broken it (except for speeding) or in a minority group

personally, i can see both sides - i'm sympathetic with the original poster and would do the same in a heart beat - but just because of your intentions doesn't make u outside the law. I would have just accepted the fine and the judges hands were tied.

I am also sympathetic to a degree but at the end of the day two wrongs don't make a right, and as the judge said the children were not in danger at the time of the offense so in this case there was no justification for getting there 5mins sooner and putting other at risk. Granted at 1am there may not be a child out on the street, but there could be a childs mother/father on there way home.
