Warranty of WD HDD

Hey,

Has anyone gone down the road of replacing a western digital HDD. I have a 2TB passport ultra and its become very slow and i can heard clicking. It shows all the signs of failing so I opened a case with WD.

Just wondering how long it takes and is it an easy process or do they try everything to get out of replacing it?

after opening the ticket WD said send it back. i sent it to the UK cost me 15 euro.

today i got a replacement by UPS. i was surprised to be honest i thought since it was an external and it is usually in my bag they would say it failed from being knocked around but they sent out a replacement no problem.

the replacement is a re certified drive so not new.

the whole process took less than 2 weeks.

I guess it was a good call by me to always buy WD. even the externals drives have 3 year warranties.
