Hi, just wondering if anyone can help a complete novice here, I was trying to see if it was possible to copy recorded programs from the box over to a laptop...

If your box has a hdd then ftp into it

Youll find the recordings in media/hdd/movie

Just a bit of additional info if needed.
Any recordings you have you can share with family or friends with Dropbox.
As @Ferret says just FTP into HDD then copy file to laptop then upload to Dropbox.
I have family and friends in Italy and there for ever asking me to record things on Northern Ireland tv and send it to them.
