im royally pissed off now
we have nearly everything on the tv barring sky sports and porn, we have 2 v+ boxes, 1 standard box, 50mb broadband, unlimited calls,
i just noticed that the sky movies hd is now live, so i have a look.... sorry your not subscribed... wtf.
i rang them up and got a very stong foregn accent so making him understand was a complete joke.
in the end they told me i needed to pay another £7 per month to get the movies in HD, WTF.
never mind they already charge me £96 per month and want another £7 quid on top of an already expensive package....
i think i will be calling retentions laters.... what a fooking joke.
anyone else get the hd movies at no extra cost?

yup happened to my parents also took xl and sports channels took the hd box, got the hd box delivered today self install.,went to sly sports hd 1 and 2 and told to subscribe arseholes told us we wouldnt have to pay for hd content last week when we ordered box,now been told £7..

yep, well i will be lowering my packages now, we have been waiting for the hd movies as virgin had always said no extra charges for hd then reneged on that. i wouldnt mind so much but thier sky movie channels have a shit quality signal.
this is going to hurt virgin as customers like me will just walk after this kick in the teeth.
i payed over £300 to get the two v+ boxes and 50mb bb installed with them promising to upgrade the movies when they go live, i feel totally ripped off, cnuts. i hope they read this and see what thier paying customers are saying

I agree when I signed up in may the guy told me that they should have the hd channels round about June time also at no extra cost, and yes low and behold there is a £10 charge,I will be ringing them tommorow to.

i know how you feel guys it was even on tv saying no extra cost for hd channals that was last month if want them free id ring up and get on cancal line say want toleave cause of this problem they give it you free m8

it gets better, the retentions was closed so i rang approx 12 times to get though to an english 1st language speaker.
anyways, he told me that he has been in undated tonight with these sorts of calls, even though virgin had promised it to be free to xl customers (his words) they have gone back on thier promise, he then said the best thing to do is call customer relations tomorrow and air my displeasure, i will call them and cancel the bleeding lot now - especially when i was told it would be £7 PER BOX not per sub (ie if you have multi room). so for us that would be another £14 per month on top of our over priced subs as it stands....... what a fooking rip.
the poor fella on the phone also said it had been passed down from sky..... hmmm i think not, personally i would have peferred them not to supply them in high def and just supply a deacent standard def picture.

im gona try to find one of those adverts that adertise the free hd forever, this will be a good get out of contract as they have broken thier side.
if your just connected i would strongly advise you activate the 14 day cooling of period, you will defo get it free then.

i always hated sky for thier dirty tricks, but it now looks like virgin has taken a lesson from them, hmmm dreambox and sat sub or cs looks like it maybe on the cards.....
fumming.......

Be interested if you manage to find one, AFAIK they are/will be offering free HD on their XL package inc sky1HD. The Movies and Sport HD is a shame but I don't know what deal they hammered out with Sky.

I canceled sky 8 months ago and never looked back.
They are to far behind when it comes to the amercian shows I like.
Plus their prices just kept going up!

Think you'r find they are on bout virgin not sky

I had just had a good chat with retentions.

No money off but I feel a litlle for VM now.

Sly charge £10 per box for HD Sports + £10 per box for HD movies + £10 for multiroom + £199 fo a 2nd HD box.

All of VM 'non premium' HD channels are free. VM have to pay Sly for every box that can view the premuim HD channels.

They therefore have to pass that charge on, they are doing it as cheaply as they can......

yes i rang up yeasterday as well,as i thought we was getting sports 1&2 free if was on the XL & sports pak ......but the girl on the phone tryed & tryed & said no we can do em fee its a extra £7 per box per room, hmmm, i think VIRGIN have made a big miskate saying it will be free..then charging, opps VM better customer relations would be a good start , sort it out VIRGIN

Just looking at the recent ofcom report about the why sky has to supply sports channels to rivals.

Ashurst

Ofcom has also obliged Sky to supply high definition (HD) versions of these channels and related interactive content which Sky broadcasts behind the "red button". Ofcom has not set a regulated price for the HD versions of these channels; rather Sky is to set the prices on a fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory (FRAND) basis. The price of interactive content is included in Ofcom's regulated price for the standard definition versions of the channels. Sky's terms of supply covering matters such as technical requirements, payment and billing terms, duration and dispute resolution must also be set on a FRAND basis.

So basically Sky are free to charge a premium for the HD version of the channels ?

I know from another forum that quite a few have sent the main man at VM angry letters and have had the £7 reduced from their bills.
I'm just sticking with the upscalled versions, good enough for me has i'm paying for so called vip now at 90 odd quid.
email addy for him in HERE if anyone wants it.

Sly charge £10 per box for HD Sports + £10 per box for HD movies

no they dont.

its ten quid for the hd pack and that means hd versions of anything you already subscribe to. so if you already have sports and movies its an extra tenner for all the hd versions of sports and movies as well as all the hd versions of the standard channels you already have.

is it 7 quid extra for sports and then an extra 7 quid more for movies making the total 14 quid extra a month? on virgin? if so that makes sky the far better choice for hd and i personally hate how sky have everything by the balls :(

our bill had recently gone up from £79 for the vip package with 50meg broadband to over £100, we phoned to find out what was going on, and we were told the vip package no longer exists, said we were very unhappy and they offered us the same package for £91, so moaned some more stating that i could go to sky and get the same price which would include all the sky hd channels and more. We were told that the offer they had was the best they could do unless we dropped to 20meg bb. So we said we would take 20 meg instead, which took the price including hd channels to around £90. We then phoned back the next day and said we would like to still have 50meg and we were then given the price £95!!!!! and they are also posting us out another router for free!

well i rang up and complained about this yesterday, my mrs flushed her phone down the toilet so i had to call virgin mobile for a new handset.
anyways, the poor bloke on the phone in retentions had been battered blue with the same complaints here so i kept it nice and polite, i really didnt want to take it out on the poor guys in retentions thier jobs are hard enough.
he gave me the hd package on 1 box for free for 3 months, still not very happy tbh but i think virgin are against it with sky.
he credited my account £21 for the three months in one hit so there is nothing stopping me cancelling sky movies now.
i will leave them on until after the school holidays then kiss them goodbye, they are a serious rip off imho, for a signal which isnt on par with standard def. the hd movies is real eye candy though.
with the ofcom complaint virgin has in over the cost of the movies there is a little bit of hope that they will be eventually be free to all movie subs which is the way it should be. it costs sky no more and only pisses of the customers.
sky really need some competion on the movie front, this is the reason why prices are so high now.
so give them a ring and at least air your displeasure about the added costs, im told that they pass all the info to thier bosses, and from experiance over the many years ive been with virgin - though some will say different, they have always tried to keep me personally happy. unlike sky which basically told me if i didnt like it then fook off, so i did.

What is the VIP package, is it worth changing to. At the moment I have XL TV, XXL BB, Phone, talk unlimited, Asian TV and an additional V box and my bill is coming in at £81 a month.
