Vauxhall Zafira

My daughter has a Vauxhall Zafira, when she presses the breaks the lights stay on, even after she took the fuse out. And she's flattening the battery. Is this a common fault?and has anybody got any ideas how to fix this please?

Sounds like a faulty break light switch, reading on google sounds like a common fault.

Your break light switch is stuck on. look in the cab behind the break pedal and all is revealed m8.

update... she got the switch fixed a few days later she was out stopped car got out went back to car it wouldn't start got her mechanic to look at it he said a fuse in the boot had blown replaced it and said all fixed she pickrd car up drove home turned car off and took key out car is still revving wont turn off there was a lot of smoke coming from under bonnet so stalled car to turn off picked up the bonnet under the bonnet the fuse box has all melted anyone any ideas please

Take it to a dealer mate that is serious and very lucky not to have torched the car. Was there not an issue with zaferas bursting into flames?

As @IANB states get it booked in. Have you had your car in for this recall? Vauxhall Zafira fires: manufacturer showed “reckless disregard for safety” say MPs

she has it booked in now with Vauxhall but the problem is she cant drive it down cos when she reconnects the battery it starts smoking and im not sure if the brakes or power steering will work without the ignition on any one know if this is fact or not please

Derek you will have no power steering or brakes without the engine running. Do not chance it, it's dangerous. There is definitely a fault with a relay overloading on that and could eventually catch fire. It could be a live wire going to earth too.
