V*rgin Media has lost a CD carrying the bank details of 3,000 customers.

The company said an internal inquiry was underway into how the information had gone missing.

V*rgin is in the process of informing the customers, who had all signed up to its services at Carphone Warehouse stores, according to The Register.

Having taken advice from the Information Commissioner the company is paying for credit file protection for the affected customers so their credit ratings cannot be affected and they are insured against fraud.

V*rgin said it had never happened before and was contrary to its policy of transferring such details over the internet.

Every time you write a cheque you hand over your bank details and a copy of your signature.

I dont for a minute think that passwords or pin numbers would be on the disc so it aint really a big issue.

They've been losing their tv programs for years and only just decided to do something about it.

Well, well this is absolutely appalling, is this a disease or what, it must be catching...

The story is they lost a CD and then say its against their policy of sending stuff over the internet ?
